Description
On the Crooked Road in Bar Harbor, the Old Stone Barn Farm can be found. This barn is now a 28-acre preserve managed by the Maine Coast Heritage Trust. When we first saw this iconic barn, it was a private residence. But now, we can explore the fields and property with ease. The paths are so well maintained and are easy to navigate. Many of the farm materials are still available to admire and reminisce of the days gone by. I especially love this old wagon wheel which is now lending a hand to an ivy of some sort. Such a classic image and scene.
I know what my reader is thinking of right now ...the song Wagon Wheel definitely popped into my head when I saw this Americana piece. My favorite line in the song must be this:
" Runnin' from the cold up in New England
I was born to be a fiddler in an old time string band
My baby plays a guitar, I pick a banjo now
Oh, north country winters keep a-gettin' me down
Lost my money playin' poker, so I had to leave town
But I ain't a-turnin' back to livin' that old life no more"
Such an iconic song for a way of living gone by. Visit The Stone Barn Farm! It's wonderful.
