Description
On the Crooked Road in Bar Harbor, the Old Stone Barn Farm can be found. This barn is now a 28-acre preserve managed by the Maine Coast Heritage Trust. When we first saw this iconic barn, it was a private residence. But now, we can explore the fields and property with ease. The paths are so well maintained and are easy to navigate. Many of the farm materials are still available to admire and reminisce of the days gone by. I especially love this old wagon wheel which is now lending a hand to an ivy of some sort. Such a classic image and scene. I am loving the cracked paint and rusty handle on the barn door. How many times did the farmer pull or push that door open to check on his cows and livestock? How many memories were made inside this threshold? So many. Oh if these walls could talk, can you imaging the tales of love and loss they might tell us about? Such history in these walls. I was humbled to be there and look forward to visiting again this summer!
