Description
Funny story to this photo! We had just descended the Beehive Mountain and made our way to The Bowl. It's always so fun to approach water surrounded by trees, mountains and the rugged landscape. While I was taking all the photos, I heard a squeaking sound, but didn't think to look around at what or who was making the noise. When I was all finished taking some photos, my son and his friend asked me if I saw the otter sitting on the rock. No I said...I didn't! When when we got home, I immediately uploaded the photos to my computer. Low and behold, I captured the otter without seeing it. If you look closely, the otter is sitting on a rock on the right side of the shore. Never have I seen an otter while visiting Acadia National Park, and even then, I had to wait to see it until I was editing the photos on my computer! This pond is the Bowl located between Champlain, Gorham and the Beehive Mountains. This is one of the few ponds that you can swim in, unlike some of the public water reservoirs. Can't wait to come back this summer to take a swim! It really was a bit frigid in January!
