Description
Looking out from the Park Loop Road to the rugged, ragged rocky shore of Acadia National Park is thrilling any time of year. But for me, viewing this magnificent landscape on New Year's Day 2016, made this shot all the more sweet! You can see the rough terrain in the winter that you cannot really see in detail in the summer months. There isn't much growing on the ground and the leaves on the trees are gone, giving the visitor a unique view of the majesty and danger one encounters in Acadia. Walking along the Park Loop Road eliminates the danger this time of year and my children and I were perfectly safe. I hope to return to Acadia this winter to see how different it looks with more snow. While we were visiting, there might have been five inches in places, so it was not too deep. It was a day that I will never forget and the best way to start 2016!
