Description
Visiting Acadia National Park on New Year's Day might seem silly to most people, but not to us. Acadia is in our DNA and to be there on the first day of 2016 is therapeutic and rejuvenating to our bodies and our souls. Walking along the Park Loop Road without any cars is magic! And exploring the trails we visit in the summer without all the crowds and tourists makes us one with the land that we love so much. This is a view of the Otter Cliffs. They are famous for their sheer drop down to the Atlantic Ocean and therefor attract many rock climbers. There is a rock climbing school in Bar Harbor and in the summer months, they guide people to the cliffs. My husband and son have climbed down the cliffs, but being afraid of heights, I have not! I prefer to take photographs of the Otter Cliffs and enjoy their beauty with both feet firmly on the ground. The snow and icicles add a mystical feeling to Acadia and I am hopeful to go back up later in January when there is more snow!
