Can you smell the ocean air? Can you feel the slight ocean breeze on your face? Standing on the Bar Harbor Town Pier is a tradition that many folks participate in after exploring Acadia National Park. The sunsets are generally magnificent and you get caught up in the all the excitement of a magnificent day coming to an end. The ocean was particularly calm on this pristine evening and the boats were gently bobbing up and down inside Frenchman's Bay. The islands surrounding the town pier are known as the Porcupine Islands. The one in this photo is Sheep Porcupine Island. During the daytime, folks can rent kayaks and have a tour of the Porcupine Islands. Sometimes the waters can be pretty rough and choppy. Not on this night. The water was calm and so tranquil. What a great way to end a fantastic day.
