Description
At the beginning of 2020, my husband and I took a road trip up to Reid State Park in Georgetown Maine. It's a glorious drive up through Bath and down through Arrowsic to the Sheepscot River. It was an incredibly windy day and the waves were blowing sea spray back into the ocean from the wind direction. Up on the knoll, there was a grand view of the beach and the islands in and around the Sheepscot River. But I fell in love with this tiny balsam pine tree. I am always amazed at the hardiness of these sturdy trees. They might be small, but they are mighty! I couldn't help but feel that in some ways it was a lonesome little tree without any company. It's silly to think of trees having feelings, but it's just how my brain works. It's like finding the last tree on the Christmas Tree sale that no one wanted to take home to decorate for their holiday gatherings. I fully intend to go back to Reid State Park this winter and hope to find my lonesome pine still there, but hopefully it will have a companion to keep it company. And I hope to see that it has grown during the warmer months. As we approach this holiday season, I sincerely wish you peace and happiness. Slainte.
