The Bell in Hand Tavern is Boston's oldest Tavern. It opened in 1795 and was the gathering place for printers and politicians, sailors and students. The tavern was started by Jimmy Wilson, who was the town's crier for fifty years. He notified everyone about the Boston Tea Party and the birth of our country. When he decided to no longer be the town Crier, he opened a tavern and named it after his former position. To alert the Bostonian's of the daily activities in the city, he would ring a bell, hens The Bell in Hand Tavern was born!

Boston is such a wonderful city to walk and explore. The cobble stone streets are reminiscent of Boston's history and heritage. I was walking around the North End and the area around Faneuil Hall. I left the family at home and had the whole day to wonder around taking photographs. It was a bit rainy, but still so beautiful. This is Marshall Street; the home to the Union Oyster House, Swartz & Swartz Lawyers, The Bell in Hand Tavern and Boston Stone Gift Shop. There is a tour of the Freedom Trail on the corner of Creek Street and Marshall Street. It was a very popular area on this Friday, but not too crowded because of the inclement weather. The rain added to the moodiness of the area. Thoroughly enjoyed my day in Boston and look forward to visiting this city again very soon.
