Artist's Description

As a former teacher, I always see patterns in just about everything. Teaching children the concept of patterning is the building blocks to math and reading. I always taught them to form their patterns from left to right. This clematis is not any different. First comes the purple, then green, then the stamens, then the purple and finally the green again. I love how the stamens are reaching up and out in this photograph. Clematis flowers are my favorite. These decorate my dogs kennel in our front yard and they keep the area nice and shaded for her. I just wish the flower lasted a little longer.
