Artist's Description
While walking in the woods one day near our home, my husband and I found this ancient step ladder covered up by some rotting leaves. It was apparent very quickly, that this ladder had been discarded some time ago. I uncovered it and placed it beside this tree, that most likely was as old as the ladder. I thought it looked so adorable beside the tree, with all the leaves and moss growing up the tree trunk. I decided to take a photograph of the step ladder. I am so glad I did. When we came upon this step ladder a few days later, someone had attempted to step on the ladder's steps, and alas, they all broke. I think I should have brought the old ladder home and given it the job to hold flower pots of some kind. But honestly, my husband would have thought it a waste of time and energy. OH well. It makes for a fine photograph and a good story.
About Elizabeth Dow
Thank you so much for visiting my Fine Art America page. Throughout my life, I have always enjoyed taking photos. My favorite part of taking photos is sharing them with people so they might visit places from afar even if they can't physically be there. The world is an amazing place and I feel that it is our responsibility to enjoy, preserve and share our love for the places we visit. As a child, I would use my parents camera to take photos that reflected my passions, which are flowers, horses, ocean, and snow storms. Here in Maine, we are fortunate to have an abundance of places and a vast array of weather to take many interesting photographs. Many of my photos are taken in and around Acadia National Park. Acadia National Park is New...
