Artist's Description
Wild Iris Farm in Bar Harbor Maine, is home to many Shires. Shires are draft horses that are so sweet, docile and affectionate. They are also about eighteen hands high and weigh anywhere between 2000 to 2400 pounds. They are found in many different colors, but Wild Iris Shires are bay with white fluffy feet and a long blaze. These shires are so well cared for and loved by their owners. I felt very fortunate to have been given permission to explore their pasture and take many photographs of them while they ate and relaxed after a long afternoon pulling their carriage around downtown Bar Harbor. They truly are gentle giants and I love them with all of my heart.
About Elizabeth Dow

Acadia National Park is New...
