Description
It has been over a year since my dad passed away. Everyday I look for a sign that he is still with me. I get frustrated because the signs are few and far between that he is with me. A friend of mine told me that I have to look more closely, which also means that I have to slow down to see the signs that he is with me. This past week I have been missing him more than usual for some reason. Luckily, a friend invited me to walk along Moody's Beach in Wells Maine. While we were walking, we came upon this perfect pair of Angel Wing Shells, perfectly connected and waiting for me. I didn't see them, and she put her arm out to stop me. She is a marine biologist and was so happy to see these shells. She pointed out that I almost stepped on them, which would have crushed them. I am so grateful for her observant eye! I have the shells now on my kitchen sink windowsill where I am reminded of my dad everyday and that his wind is still beneath my wings. But I took this photo of the shells on the beach where I found them. My dad is always with me. Incidentally, when I was married, over 25 years ago now, our father daughter song was Wind Beneath my Wings by Bette Midler. I cry like a baby when I listen to that song. Thanks for the sign Dad. My eyes are wide open and I will slow down to notice the signs you are leaving for me.
