Description
Ice storms are not super common in Maine, but when they happen, there is a glistening, magical occurrence. The freezing rain freezes on impact when it hits the ground. Driving is quite dangerous and the authorities advise staying home, if you can. I love taking photographs of the ice as it freezes to everything in my yard. This is my white pine garland still hanging over my trellis from Christmas time. The ice doesn't drip to the ground, but rather freezes to the pine needles. When the sun comes out after the ice storm, everything sparkles for a bit before the ice melts. The tree limbs hand really low to the ground. We all pray that they don't break. But after all, we are in Maine and Maine trees are hardy!
