Description
Well, sometimes I impress myself...not all the time mind you, but with this photograph, I am impressed. Little did I know that while we were sailing out on Casco Bay that my husband and I would come across the Ruth and Pat deep sea fishing vessel. This boat is massive and the smaller boat hanging off the end is bigger than our sail boat!! OMG! We stayed well out of their way! When doing a little research on the internet about the Ruth and Pat, I learned that the Ruth and Pat is one of five fishing vessels to have a licence to fish Purse Seine for bluefin tuna on the East Coast of the United States. eine (/seɪn/ SAYN) fishing (or seine-haul fishing) is a method of fishing that employs a seine or dragnet. A seine is a fishing net that hangs vertically in the water with its bottom edge held down by weights and its top edge buoyed by floats. Seine nets can be deployed from the shore as a beach seine, or from a boat. Boats deploying seine nets are known as seiners. There are two main types of seine net deployed from seiners: purse seines and Danish seines. This boat has traveled up and down the Atlantic Coast fishing for bluefin tuna! And here is is in Portland Maine! How cool is this??? I think that its just wild and that I have the best luck! Welcome home Ruth and Pat!! I hope you had a great haul of yummy Atlantic Tuna!
