On Mount Desert Island, there are actually two Long Ponds. This is the smaller of the two. It is located inside the Private Property Walk which does not allow bicycles. It is a haven for horses and people who prefer a slower pace. The property is still owned by the Rockefeller Family and they graciously let us walk and enjoy the scenes and the ever abundant blueberries while in season. Keep a look out for the family as they drive their Morgan Horse team around on the carriage roads. Also, look out for the amazing boat house where many local people bring their dogs to swim in Long Pond.
