Description
There weren't any crowds or publicity, but this dear, sweet man very calmly removed his sweat pants and jumped in the freezing cold ocean on New Year's Day 2016. It was a very mild day which is generally not the case on Mount Desert Island Maine. I am sure the ocean was freezing, but the brave swimmer dove in and stayed in the ocean for approximately five to ten minutes. My kids and I were in awe of him! But what I liked best about his ritual was the fact that there wasn't any fan fair. He was just carrying out his annual tradition as he always has done. He did not want any gratitude or praise. He jumped in this ocean for himself!

Cold! Lovely shot.
Elizabeth Dow replied:
Thanks! The ocean I am sure was very cold. The air was not. Small blessings for the swimmer!
