Description
Hiking in Maine's wilderness is an experience! My son and I went on a backpacking trip in Baxter State Park as a post graduation celebration. We left the family at home and went out on our own. We came upon these wooden planks. These planks are here to help hikers, but also to preserve natural habitat. The rocks scaffold the boards. We were hiking up from Roaring Brook Campground to Chimney Pond Campground where we had a lean-to waiting for us at the top. It's an amazing hike and I cannot wait to do it again next year!!

Definitely a Northern New England look.

I tell ya Betsy, I was in the deepest of forests. It was serious business. There were warnings all over the place to stay on the trail. It was gorgeous and just a trip of a lifetime!

Beautiful! sounds like a wonderful trip too.
Elizabeth Dow replied:
Hi Sweet Sarah, It was an amazing trip. As I process the photographs from this trip, my son has left for college. I decided a while back to wait to process them until after he went off to RIT to bring the memories back of our epic trip. We will go back next year and I am hoping to summit to Katahdin. XO
