Jordan Pond Path is a wonderful short and very relaxing hike around the entire Jordan Pond. In places, such as this, there are wooden planks for the visitors to walk on. It might seem odd to have them, but they preserve the land and habitat for all the animals that live near the pond. It protects the moss growing on the rocks and delicate ecosystem. These paths and the wooden planks are managed by the parks department, but also by Friends of Acadia. Friends of Acadia is a group of people who donate their time, money and other resources to maintaining Acadia National Park when the national funding falls short. We are so grateful for this wonderful group. I have included a link here for you to visit them and learn more about their group.
