Product Details

Our luxuriously soft blankets are available in two different sizes and feature incredible artwork on the top surface. The bottom surface is white. Our 100% polyester blankets are available in two different styles: plush fleece and sherpa fleece. Plush fleece blankets are soft and fluffy on both sides, whereas sherpa blankets are smooth like a soft sweater on the artwork side (i.e. shorter threads) which provides for a sharper image. Looking for a recommendation? Go with a 60" x 80" plush fleece blanket. It's soft and luxurious on both sides... the artwork looks incredible... and the size is just right for everyone.

Artist's Description

The Cumberland Fair Grounds in Cumberland Maine has a fantastic horse racing track. These horses are known as Standardbred horses and they are descended from the English thoroughbred Messenger. More than 90 percent of modern Standardbreds trace their lineage back to Messenger's great-grandson Hambletonian, one of the fastest trotters of the mid-19th century and a prolific sire. Pacers are a lot faster than their counterparts Trotters. Pacers move their legs on the same side at the same time, rather than trotters who move them diagonally. For example, the right legs move forward at the same time and then the left legs move together at the same time. These horses racing at the Cumberland Fair were moving each side at the same time. It is a very fast and speedy race. As you can see in the photograph, lots of sand and debris are churned up creating a cloud of dust in the horse's wake. It was thrilling to watch and even better to capture on film!

About Elizabeth Dow

Elizabeth Dow

Thank you so much for visiting my Fine Art America page. Throughout my life, I have always enjoyed taking photos. My favorite part of taking photos is sharing them with people so they might visit places from afar even if they can't physically be there. The world is an amazing place and I feel that it is our responsibility to enjoy, preserve and share our love for the places we visit. As a child, I would use my parents camera to take photos that reflected my passions, which are flowers, horses, ocean, and snow storms. Here in Maine, we are fortunate to have an abundance of places and a vast array of weather to take many interesting photographs. Many of my photos are taken in and around Acadia National Park. Acadia National Park is New...
