Description
At the far end of Winslow Park Campground in Freeport Maine, there is the Winslow Memorial Park. It is located between South Freeport and the Harraseeket River. On the peninsula, there is this wonderful beach and charming boat dock. I love the scaffolds that support this elegant dock. I must remember to come check this beach out in the summer! My son and I were in the mood for a hike, and a good friend suggested Winslow Park. It was an ideal location because we could let Genevieve wonder around without a leash! She even took a walk through the frigid winter water! Winslow Park has quite a history.
"In 1953, Adelaide Winslow Harb gave this scenic oceanfront gift to the Town in memory of her mother, Delia B. Powers Winslow. She entrusted some 90 acres with the buildings and improvements thereon known as Stockbridge Point with the proviso that the land and its buildings shall be used as a public park and for public recreational purposes. The Park is located at the end of Staples Point Road on a peninsula between Casco Bay and the Harraseeket River." (Taken from http://freeportmaine.com/department.detail.php?page_id=98)
This is a wonderful campground. So if you are interested in ocean front camping in the summer, please check them out.
