Description
The first place we went on our spring trip to Washington D.C. was the United States Botanical Gardens! I was in serious heaven!! The flowers outside were amazing and the exhibits inside were beyond anything that I have ever seen. It was a world of lush greenery and sweet smelling ambrosia! These Lily Flowered Tulips were just outside the entrance, along with so many other flowers. I love Washington D.C and if I ever live in this wonderful town, I will volunteer at the Botanical Gardens.
I found this description on the Better Homes and Garden's website:
"Lily-flowered tulips are named for the shape of their blooms, which resemble old species tulips from Turkey. Their long, pointed petals arch outward and, when fully open, look like a six-point star. They come in a wide array of colors including purple, pink, white, orange, red, yellow, peach, and combinations of these shades. Most varieties bloom late in the spring season. Stems of lily-flowered tulips grow 1-2 feet tall. They are not as sturdy as some other tulip types, so plant them in a location protected from strong winds."

Thank you so much Randy! It's always such an honor to be included on the homepage of WFS.
